"Shelter Helpers' Days"

On the last weekend of April we had a great shelter-helper event: most of our old volunteers and many new volunteers set out to visit the shelter and clean up the little forrest we have there.

The surroundings of our shelter are lovely in the spring. We have a forrest that has just started to become green. There is a little old farm building in the forrest. We bought it when the previous owner died. Unfortunately, the previous owner left an awful lot of garbage behind the building. So our goal was to get rid of all that junk, and to cut back the trees and stuff that we don't need there.

We got some money for the project from an other organisation, so we managed to buy all the tools and equipment that we needed, like a wheelbarrow, working gloves, etc. And we rented a large container for the garbage. Of course the container almost turned out to be too small. But we sent in a few men to walk up and down on the heap of garbage and at the end it just fit.

And a few photos to give you an idea how things went:

Barack (meaning Peaches, not the President of the US smiley) enjoyed our visit.
